I want to give a huge shoutout and thank you to Dr. Tom Cahoon DC, husband of Crystal Carter Cahoon from right here in Morgan. First off, Dr. Tom has been so kind and patient with my little boys. He even taught our little guy to give high fives and they have sincerely made a friend in Dr. Tom. Some of you know my baby has had life threatening allergies. Anaphylactic and topically. When we take him places I have to be “that mom” and ask people to wash their hands, not to touch him, don’t kiss on him, ect.... he has to stay in a car seat, high chair, or stroller at EVERY family, friend, and church function. He is now 20 months and cries all of the time when we go places because he wants to run and play and we just can’t let him or he has to be monitored every second and I have to be a helicopter mom. It has been heartbreaking and extremely exhausting as a mother. We have worked closely with his primary care doctor and the best allergist in Northern Utah. Besides waiting it out and hope he out grows his allergies, they gave us an Epi pen, and there was nothing they could do. Crystal reached out to me and explained what her husband could do for Wyatt. I knew it was worth a try. If I had a child that had a broken elbow, of course I would do anything to fix it. This is how I felt about his allergies. I would do anything for him to have a normal life. We started the treatment and within a few days we could see significant improvement. He had blisters(literally open sores) on his bottom and on the back of his legs and we knew it was from an allergy of some sort but we could not pinpoint it. We tried EVERY magical cream out there, dr prescription, homeopathic and no reprieve for 6+months. He would scream and claw at us to not bathe him Because on the pain from the water. heartbreaking to say the least. The blisters were gone after the 1st week of treatment.... literally gone. We knew we were on the right path for him. Next he was behind verbally, he could only say 5 words.. mom, dad, yes, no, and yea. Midway through the treatments Dr. Tom worked on some emotion and behavioral problems that stemmed from the allergies. I now have a talker that has a vocabulary of 40+words. We have been trying to get him to say my sisters name for 6 months, and he couldn’t. Over a weeks time he could say her name, my brother in law, and nieces and nephews. The excitement and progress has amazed me. He is funny and now calls me “Chelle” and his dad “Derrick”🤦♀️. His progress has been phenomenal! Then came time to introduce him to his main allergy on his skin. Since he was born we started to notice that we would “contaminate” him topically if we touched him after touching what he was allergic to. We could even see every finger print and kiss we gave him. At first it left us speechless and puzzled... we found out what he was allergic to the hard way. He had an anaphylactic response while we had a babysitter. We could not have prayed and drove fast enough to get to him. After that, we were turned away from primary children’s(allergy clinic was full😒) the U would not see us for 4 months. Our primary care physician got us into a phenomenal allergist within 2 days. We did bloodwork and pinpointed the problems. It has since expanded. Besides keeping him away from those allergens, there was nothing they could do. (Sorry for the back story) ANYWAYS, After the planned treatments in Dr. Cahoon’s office, we were finally able to “contaminate” him on his leg, arm, and face. NO WELTS OR Hives! What a glorious day. For the next little while we intentionally contaminated him to see if he would have a reaction. It has felt freeing to touch him and kiss on him whenever we want and not have to worry what will happen to him. Lastly, it came time for him to taste his biggest problem. I was not worried at all because we had seen progress and miracles along the way. Wyatt had zero reaction in the office and none afterwards. Our hearts are overwhelmed! We still have a little bit to go as we slowly introduce new foods to him, but we have had ZERO problems!
UPDATE: It has now been over 2 years since we started seeing Dr. Cahoon. I am Amazed at how well our little guy has done. About once a year we notice a slight reaction to something. The first time it happened, I waited about a month to see if it was a fluke or really a reaction. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Cahoon. After the one and ONLY appointment, he was good as new. I was kicking myself for waiting so long to get an appointment. Again a year later he was having a small reaction to something, I got him an appointment with Dr. Tom and Wyatt didn’t have any problems after the appointment. I am happy to have small little “pick me up” appointments. Wyatt’s quality of life has drastically changed and we couldn’t be happier. We feel blessed to have Dr. Tom in our corner. He is extremely kind and so good at what he does!
Another huge shoutout to Dr. Tom Cahoon at Life Empowered Chiropractic. I read a post on here about allergy elimination and I thought I’d try it because I was completely lactose intolerant. I’ve been working with him for the last couple weeks & cleared dairy today. I was very skeptical about trying dairy again because it normally makes me super sick within a couple minutes. I ate ice cream tonight and nothing happened. I felt completely normal & before today it would have made me so sick. I have no idea how to explain it, but it worked for me. Amazing!
Shout out to Life Empowered Chiropractic!
My 7 year old daughter developed a pretty severe shellfish allergy over the past year. It got to the point that if she had shellfish, her eyes would swell shut, hives everywhere, and her throat would start getting tight (we got a script for an epi pen). If anyone around her had it and then played with her or hugged her she was breaking out in hives and she’d get a severe sore throat.
One of our friends recommended Dr. Cahoon and the NAET method, and even though it sounded slightly strange I figured we could try and maybe just reduce her reaction. But after a couple treatments she’s able to eat any type of shellfish with zero reaction. I’m still totally mind blown. After looking into it a little more, I realized he can treat so many allergies and sensitivities so easily. I even started going to him myself.
If you (or kiddos) have any allergies or just feel off, I’d highly recommend checking it out!
Just for reference, this was before any treatments and within ten minutes of her brother eating shrimp and then hugging her. And now she can eat any shellfish with no issues.
